Pinhead And his World Project

Pinhead is a character conceived by members of the Pinnacle Studio 10 User forums. After much discussion and comradery, it was decided what fun it would be to put together a group production, something we all could take credit for. Pinhead would be the star of our movie, visiting all of our hometowns and cities. While each of our movies would be unique, Pinhead is the common factor. This way we shared a little bit about where we come from, yet had some fun in the process. That was how Pinhead came to be. The world project eventually evolved into a contest with many participants. You may see a list of participants below. These clips may still be viewed in our view clips section. The full write up about this project is on the World Project Info Page. DGI is the copyright holder of Pinhead.

Pinhead And his Story Project

PinheadHQ's second project, became The Story Project. The videos could be about anything the editors wanted with Pinhead being the star. There was no specific theme, except that editors were to tell a story. Participants were judged on putting together a story. Pinhead was to be in most of the scenes and be moving, or used as a cut-out, or otherwise engaged in the story.  Part of the process was to encourage learning. Originally clips were to remain anonymous until the end, and have a minimum running time of 2 minutes but no more than 6 minutes in length. Both concepts were dropped during the project, to encourage sharing of techniques. Studio was the primary video editor. Photo programs to change the appearance of Pinhead were allowed.  You may see a list of participants below. These clips may still be viewed in our view clips section. The full write up about this project is on the Story Project Page.

Pinhead's Mystery Manor

Mystery Manor was first conceived near the end of Pinhead's first project in 2006, The World Project. From that time the project idea evolved and developed through Project Two Tell a Story. Project Two showed some great talent and skill, feeling editors might be ready for a challenge Mystery Manor officially became Project 3. This advance knowledge even allowed for a teaser to conclude The Second Annual Golden Pinhead Awards. Mystery Manor launched in January 2008. It opened with a full opening video to set up a story the editors would have to conclude. Pinhead returned as a murder suspect, amongst a full cast of other suspects. Besides offering more characters, a set of backgrounds were also included making Mystery Manor a unique project. There was much anticipation for a high turnout. A list of known participants can be found bellow, some people signing up months before the project launched. The Mystery Manor opening became one of the post popular downloads, and the cast and background files closely matched its popularity. As the due date loomed, it suddenly became clear although many editors had planned to participate they did not complete their projects. The projects failure caused the cancellation of some planned bonus features, like a DVD style commentary for the opening. It also put any possibility of a fourth project at risk. The clips submitted are superb and can still be found in the View Clips section. You may read the project write up on the Mystery Manor page.

The Golden Pinhead Awards

As the World Project got underway, we at PinheadHQ were impressed by the clips coming in. Wanting to reward such amazing work, The Golden Pinhead Awards were created. Eight prizes were provided by Pinnacle Systems, Smartsound, TimeImage, and PlanetDV. The winners were determined by a vote of peers. A reward show starring Pinhead presenting the prizes aired on our pages. Here is the original contest page. The Golden Pinhead Awards were continued in the story project, but separated from prizes. Here is the Golden Pinhead Awards page, from the story project. The Golden Pinhead Awards are a important part of PinheadHQ, and are an annual event.
